AI slop and navigating this new era of work.
Oct 23, 2025
AI is doing the opposite for me, it’s slowing me down.
In every client meeting, there’s pressure to use AI tools. I’m not against it; I even include an AI-generated board alongside my own designs so clients can compare.
More often than not, the crafted work wins.
More and more products are being vibe-coded, which makes standing out more important than ever. But AI recycles the same layouts and UI. We know now that AI design tools are trained on popular component libraries like ShadCDN and Tailwind, which default to the same bg-indigo-500 buttons and purple-tinted backgrounds.
Human fatigue is real. The more sameness you push out, the more likely users are to confuse you with your competitor. When I was designing B2C apps in a TikTok-style, people actually thought they were still using TikTok.
That’s what happens when design starts to blur together.
AI may speed up production, but true distinction still comes from human creativity.
